Project/Location Commissioned to prepare a strategy to develop the mountain area of Ras Al Khaimah into a regional tourism destination including the designation of a National Park, several resort areas, hard and soft adventure centres and extensive trail system. The mountain area is only two hours drive from Dubai and will form part of an overall package of Emirate wide development opportunities. Project Description Six character areas were identified: The Flats - two wadis (Wadi Shamal and Wadi Bih) separated by small mountain ridge. Opportunity for a concentration of recreational facilities. The Basin - a large area of flat land. A spectacular site for a large resort. The Canyon - several small flat areas. Opportunities for camping and view points. Al Jais - a planned themed resort. The Plateau - a series of flat areas suitable for villa development with extensive views.
