Project/Location Commissioned by Symonds Travers Morgan to lead a small team to prepare an integrated Master Plan for Tourism Development for the island of Curacao (145,000 population) located in the Southern Caribbean. Project Description The Master Plan identifies the development principles, implementation strategies and necessary actions to achieve long term sustainable tourism growth, taking into account the island's physical capabilities and limitations; the logistics, financial and legislative implications for development; and marketing and economic criteria for specific sites. Twenty Action Area Plans were identified with suggested development concepts for each area. A series of enabling actions were also recommended requiring immediate implementation. Demand models, prioritisation matrices, action area profiles and other decision making support components were also contained in the Master Plan, thus sustaining the fundamentals of the planned approach.
